Habiba Studio and Dance Ensemble celebrate 30 years with 2 magazine covers and a new documentary
Just in time for the 30th anniversary of the studio (this year) and the 30th anniversary of the Habiba Dance Ensemble (next year) the wonderful people at The Belly Dance Chronicles put me on their cover. Also in the "Habiba" issue there is an interview by John Clow and my article about the history of the Habiba Dance Ensemble. I have managed to obtain a supply of these and am offering them 1/2 the price of a single issue (which is $10), so, for $5.00 you can have an issue inscribed personally to you. If you are or have ever been a member of the Habiba Dance Ensemble your copy is free. Thank you for the lovely notes I got from people, both for the Chronicles cover and the added fact that I appeared on the Zaghareet cover also this month. Those of you who have been following the yearlong reprint of my Tunisian articles have already seen it.
In addition to that, my friend and former troupe member Djuna Wojton has created a short documentary entitled Habiba: Belly Dancer, Teacher, Choreographer. It contains wonderful footage from the 2010 hafla of students and troupe members. It will be available soon on the studio web site but in the meantime here is a link and also a little about Djuna:
