Habiba Presents Shahrzad in a workshop:
"How to dance to live music in the Egyptian style"

SHAHRZAD will pass on her techniques for working with live music as well as up to the minute Egytptian technique. Class will be 11 am - 1 pm and 2 - 4 pm. Lunch and shopping from 1 - 2 pm.

Vending by Devadasi Belly Dance
Knowing how to work and dance with musicians is important to belly dancers of all styles and levels. Not only is it a very valuable skill, it enables new levels of creativity and artistry which may never be discovered while working with recorded music.
In this intensive workshop Shahrzad will give students the tools they need to dance seamlessly with a band. Along with new steps and combinations students will learn appropriate movements for different beats and songs, improvisation techniques, interaction with the musician, and performance skills such as expression and use of stage.
At the end of the workshop each dancer will have the option of doing a short solo to practice their new skills and receive useful feedback from Shahrzad.
SHAHRZAD has made a name for herself as a featured dancer working with famous singers and musicians at some of the top Arabic night clubs and concerts on the east coast. She currently resides in Washington DC where she is one of the main instructors at Saffron dance studio during the week and travels to teach and perform on the weekends.
